Data Science and AI in Advertising: How It Skyrockets ROI

Here at Adamant, we come from a team of data scientists, engineers, AI specialists, and marketing enthusiasts. Having dealt with the growth of technology for decades, we understand:

  1. Technology is POWERFUL
  2. Technology is A LOT to learn on top of running an entire business

So in this article I aim to break down a few very key strategies to help you understand how data science and AI is constantly at play in your business, and how it can easily be used to your advantage.

First, in a couple lines, let’s take a look at more than 99% of the marketing world’s strategies for finding profitable marketing campaigns:

Don’t set up automated data channels, and make educated guesses on a few creatives tat might be successful, and rely on chance in the hopes of getting successful. Because they have no data to analyze from their results, have no idea who landed on the websites, who bought, who didn’t, and continue guessing until something is averagely successful.

Make no mistake when I say that being creative and strategic from the beginning is extremely important if you want to successfully reach and engage your audience, but gone are the days where that’s ALL that goes into it.

In modern day, the internet is a sea of data and their are a great deal of additional elements and factors to consider when optimizing your business’ marketing.

For context, AI can do everything listed below and more, hence why forward-thinking companies everywhere are using AI to:

  • Allocate advertising budgets, both across channels and audiences
  • Adjust advertising budgets automatically to hit KPIs
  • Find new advertising audiences and conversion opportunities
  • Build richer audience profiles
  • Determine and hit campaign goals
  • Gain insight into competitors' ad spend, creatives, and strategies
  • Create ad copy
  • Create visual ad creative
  • Hyper-personalize ad messages and images to individual consumers
  • Hyper-personalize ad targeting
  • Predict ad performance before launching campaigns
  • And much more

But how can you harness some of this potential for your business? Well the obvious answer is reach out to a member of our team at Adamant Media and we’ll help you save countless time and money implementing data-driven marketing strategies.

But another option, is to start relying more heavily on some of the potential tools out their, and playing into the underlying systems of machine learning and data. For example, have you ever looking into dynamic retargeting?

What about programmatic advertising? Programmatic advertising currently makes up 72% of all digital display advertising spend.

How about identity resolution technology? Retargeting beats all other ad placement strategies with a 1,046% efficiency rate.

Or CBO campaign optimizations? On average, CBO has been shown to result in lower costs per result while eliminating the worries of audience overlap.

While these are just a few considerations, if you’ve never even heard of these, then I strongly recommend looking into it. At our agency we regularly incorporate all of these strategies into our client’s success along with a number of other strategies.

I hope this helps provide some clarity on a few incredibly powerful ways businesses around the world are scaling faster and more profitably using data science and AI to their advantage. If you’re interested, but don’t know where to start, we’ve got you covered.

Fun trick: If you have a successful campaign on an ad platform, try duplicating it 5 or 10 times and running all of them kept at the exact same parameters, daily cost, everything. You’ll likely see a couple do extremely well, most do average, and a few bomb. Then just go ahead and shut off the bad ones.
This happens because the machine learning models these ad sets are built on function through randomization to make sure results never become bias!
